Qualstar recognizes the value of continued education and supporting those people who make the commitment to work toward a goal after high school.

Each year Qualstar will award a set number of scholarships to individuals who are continuing or renewing their education. Interested applicants should complete the application process detailed below (you can also download a PDF of the scholarship program outline.)

  • Must be a high school senior OR currently enrolled in a college/university/trade school.
  • Existing members or children/grandchildren of existing members are eligible to apply (account must be open for at least 12 months and be in good standing)
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or U.S. resident alien
  • Must have at least a 2.50 cumulative GPA (transcript required) from current or previous school
  • Must use the scholarship for continuing education at either a 4 or 2-year college or university, community college, or trade school (proof of enrollment required)
  • Previous Edward G. Streuli Scholarship winners are eligible to apply if still enrolled in continuing education. Note: Scholarship entries are limited to four years (one entry per year).
  • Qualstar employees, board members, and the families of employees and board members are not eligible to apply

Application Process - December 1st through Presidents' Day:

  • Entries received after Presidents' Day will not be considered.
  • Essay Requirements: Submit your 500-word essay (maximum 600 words) answering one of the two questions below. Only PDF documents will be accepted.
  • Remember a copy of  your current transcripts (PDF, JPG, PNG documents only) with the application.
  • Submit your application online - remember to upload your additional documents!
  • Incomplete Applications/Documentation: Incomplete applications or missing documents will not be considered. All required materials must be submitted by the deadline.

Essay Question (500 Word Minimum, Maximum 600 words)

Essays will be judged based on overall concept, clarity and completeness of details. 

Credit unions are built on the philosophy of “people helping people.” Describe a time when you helped someone, or were helped yourself, in a way that made a lasting impact. How does this experience reflect the kind of community you want to help build in the future?

Important Notes Regarding the Essay:

  • Essay Usage: By submitting your essay, you agree that Qualstar Credit Union may publish your essay for promotional purposes, including on its website and social media platforms.
  • No AI Assistance: Essays must be written entirely by the applicant. Use of AI tools or automated writing software to generate or assist in the writing of the essay is prohibited.

Selection Process & Winner Information:

Submit your completed application, essay, and all other required documents (by Presidents' Day).

  • Once all completed applications and required materials are received by the due date, they will be reviewed by the current selection committee (made up of board members, the CEO, and two selected staff members.)
  • Scholarship winners will be notified by phone by mid-March; checks will be made payable to the school of choice upon submission of verified registration and mailed in July/August.
  • Winners will provide a picture to Qualstar which they agree to have used for promotional purposes.
